The Body Shop – History
The first The Body Shop opened in 1976 in Brighton, England. By 1982 new shops were already opening at the rate of two a month. Throughout the years The Body Shop has launched various large campaigns, the first one being Save the Whales with Greenpeace in 1986. In 1990 The Body Shop Foundation; a charity which funds human rights, animal, and environmental groups, is created. Then, in November 1998, The Body Shop’s campaign leads to a UK-wide ban on animal testing on cosmetic products and ingredients. And that is only a few of The Body Shop’s milestones!
In 1992 The Body Shop launches the first Body Butter. It has since become one of The Body Shop’s most famous products, even winning awards around the world.
