The Reject Shop – History
The Reject Shop was founded in 1981 and the business has grown in leaps and bounds in the next thirty-odd years. In 1985 The Reject Shop stopped selling factory seconds and started discount variety retailing. In 2004 the 100th The Reject Shop was opened and the store was also successfully listed on the Australian Stock Exchange at $2 per share.
The number of The Reject Shops flourished, with 200 in 2010, 250 in 2012 and 300 in 2013! In 2017 The Reject Shop opened its 350th store.
Selling everything from clothing to health and beauty and even grocery and garden products, The Reject Shop has become a firm favorite among a broad range of value-conscious consumers who are attracted to low price points and the opportunity to purchase a bargain.
